Hi, I have taken an abandoned kitten in and I think she is about five months old now, I was told that she can be spayed at six months and she won't be able to get pregnant untill she is nine months, I have been reading some of the answers regarding cats on yahoo answers and I am now beginning to think I have been given the wrong advice, someone please tell me when she can get pregnant!! I would ask the vet but I am in Sicily and they don't believe in sterilization even though they will do it so I am not getting the right answers from here! I need help before it is too late and I don't want anything bad to happen to Lily! Sue

I have a 50 gallon aquarium with many types of non-agressive fish (community tank). My water always test fine for everything (pH, ammonia, etc.) do I still need to do water changes; water gets added when it evaporate which happens quickly. If you think I need to still do water changes why? (Currently I'm still doing changes; but not as frequent; other owners of fish have suggested not to do water changes they said it will mess up the natural balance). I have many live plants; but some seem to have dead leaves; do I remove the dead leaves/ plants? Also I'm having problems addind new fish tehy always seem to die (2 guppies and 2 african dwarf frogs died within 3 weeks of adding them (properly); I have successfully added cory cats. 1 guppy I found stuck to the filter when i went to remove it; it was still alive but died a couple days later (it had injuries but unknown if it was due to filter) the other ones didn't look to have any damage

I just adopted a 7 week old kitten, yesterday. I have had a cat before but never this young. She cried all day and all night yesterday. She has wet food, dry food and water.

When I hold her it stops but I I had to hold her all night. She literally will cry until I hold her.

Is this normal? Should I let her cry half the time and hold her the other half of the time. My boyfriend thinks I should let her cry and she will stop in a week. She literally will cry until I hold her.

Am I spoiling her if I let her sleep with me all night. She is also very tiny and I am afraid I will roll on her if she sleep with me all night.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?.

i have 3 cats, a large one (3+ yrs old, overweight-about 18+ lbs?) a regular sized one (>1 yr old, a bit pudgy-maybe 14lbs?) and a small one (>1 yr old, just right-maybe 9 or 10 lbs)

how can i get only the one (maybe two, to an extent) to loose weight without putting all of them on a diet?
now i usually just leave out dry food (purina, indoor cat formula) for them (all together they eat about 2 cups total, per day)

I just got a 7 week old kitten and started him on the regular cat chow. But after visiting a pet food store was persuaded into trying a Raw food diet simular the the BARF diet. He seems to like it but I am conserned about feeding my kitten raw meat! They told me at the pet store that grains were bad for cats because they weren't able to diggest them. I'm very confused can anyone shed some light?

I recently adopted a 4-year-old siamese female from a Shelter. I was told that she's very sweet and good with children. However, she hisses and growls at my child, and sometimes growls when I pet her. Do you have any suggestions on how to handle her, so she feels more at ease?

SO my cat and I are extremley close - shes a really good cat, most of the time and meows and meows - such a chatter bean.

This morning, I was sleeping, my sister wakes me up and was like 'your baby brought home some breakfast'!! I walk and looked outside, and right by the welcome mat, there was a dead bird, with a feather in my cats mouth, wanting to come inside.
I gave her a spanking, but I was mentioning to my mother, how if I was a cat, I would never show my owners in front of them what I caught. But my mother said, its because my cat was proud and had pride, and wanted her mother (me) to be proud of her. She said after I spanked her she probably got her feelings hurt (thinking that the present/bird she tried to give me, I didnt like apparently) so do you think its true? That my cat, roseabell, was sitting in pride, with bird wide open so I can see it, and give her kudos? lol

Please, if any of you know about it, tell me. I'm afraid of having my cat treated with conventional medications for hyperthyroidism, she's 13 and never been sick before. I wonder if acupunture works, or homeopathy in cases like this. Please, share your experiences if any.
My cat has an appointment tomorrow with a regular vet, and I feel aprehensive, he'll give her traditional medications. Thanks for help

Would seachem prime really detoxify my nitrite levels when they spike? If so this would keep the fish safe through the nitrite cycle (rescue fish I am aware that he should not ideally be in an uncycled tank). If this would work plz give some advice on how best to use it. If it would not work for some reason plz let me know....does it really detoxify nitrite and ammonia or is it just misleading and clever advertising??
