I have not been having regular periods in the past 2 years. I am of fairly good health, just a little overweight. I was regular until about the age of 21 (5 years ago), when I went on birth control. Since then, I have times when I have no period at all, then years when I'm regular.
I went to see my doctor about a year ago for this and another problem I was having (stomach pains) and he could not find anything wrong with me - my hormones/thyroid are fine and everything. I have been avoiding going back since he never really solved my problems, just dismissing them as being 'stress related' and I do not have medical insurance and can not afford to pay the high costs of a doctor visit if he is going to tell me the same thing for this or have me do a bunch of crazy tests.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any serious complications that could arise from not having a period - or should I definitely go to the doctor?
