What would be a good gift to give a girl that barely know for her Bridal Shower? I thought about getting something from Bath and Body Works but another girl that is going has already gotten her something from there. She isnt registered anywhere for her wedding.

My Fiancé has a much larger family then I do, so we're trying to cut down on cost. Do any one have any good ideas as to how to go about doing that?

When it comes to a registry I am a little uncomfortable in the first place. Against other opinions I REFUSE to put one of those "registered at" cards in my shower or wedding invitations. The problem is that we have a lot of out of town guests and have been asked by many where we are registered at. So we registered. Now my family is saying that I did not register for cookware and dinnerware and so on. I did not register for it because I could not ask someone to by me a two hundred dollar gift. Is that weird. I just do not feel comfortable asking for a gift that expensive. My brother says to do it anyway because that is what the close family will get us. But I think that the close family will know what to get us anyway without it being on paper in some store. Am I just being too naive about weddings or should I put the more expensive items on?

Not nothing to outrageous, but I want a wedding dress, and reception, and the wedding party to be dressed up, and all the good stuff. But what could I do to save money? What store, any sites, or anything you did to save money, how much did you spend in total? Where did you have it?

Does anyone know of a good reception hall in the southern massachusetts area.? I need room enough for a buffet dinner for 160 to 185, plus a good size dance floor. I would like to bring in my own caterer, so a kitchen would be great!

Im just curious how many people on here have eloped instead of having a traditional wedding ceremony.

My hubby and I drove to Virginia and were married within 45 minutes. Sometimes I am THRILLED to have avoided the stress of planning a wedding, but sometimes I'm bummed for not having the dress, the walk down the aisle, etc. We're planning a reception for this summer, but even it is casual (an outdoor pavillion at a local park). We're both very spontanious, no-nonsense people, so everything so far has fit us perfectly.

My question is though, For those of you who eloped, did you ever find yourselves years later wishing you had a big wedding?

My fiance and I announced our engagement last summer and have been planning the wedding since then. Over the last eight or so months his mother has put up a lot of resistence about the marriage (though nothing directly to me seeing as how she is exceptionally passive-agressive and obsessed with manners). We've struggled through it, still in love, and still want to get married regardless of her thoughts on the matter (the rest of our family and friends are wholly supportive). The issue is that lately she's completely changed gears and is super sweet to me and has been talking about how 'excited' she is. The problem is that I don't trust her (she said some REALLY negative things about me and our marriage, including that I was only marrying her son so I could get pregnant) and I'm having a really hard time warming up to her. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

My sister is getting married on 5 de Mayo... VIVA!! *woohoo* LOL!! Anyway, I'm her Maid of Honor and I know that traditionally we give speeches, but I like to be different and I want to do something more symbolic and special for her. I want to sing her a song that expresses how much I love her, appreciate her for everything she's done for me, that I wish her much happiness, etc. I can't seem to find the perfect "sister" song so please help me out on this!! I already got a singing coach and the wedding is only a month and a half away!! *is nervous*

PS. I've done a couple of searches and I like Christina Aguilera "I Turn To You", Celine Dion "Because You Loved Me", and Lionel Richie "Three Times a Lady"... but I want MORE choices to pick from!!

THANKS A MIL!!! :)

I am having a destination wedding, and to keep costs low I am having 1 bridesmaid, thus she is my Maid of Honor. The only guests at the wedding will by my parents, and my MOH, so this is an important position. 2 months before the wedding she informs me she is engaged to a guy that she doesn't know (lives in different state, only talk on the phone) & she is busy planning the wedding. I understand she's busy, but honestly the fact that she is marrying this guy sickens me. It is hard to watch my best friend make such a big mistake, & she won't listen to my advice. I do not want to call her to talk about the wedding, b/c she always talks about him. I cannot imagine spending a week with her on her all-expense-paid vacation that I'm giving her. I get the impression that she's going to try to make me pay for him to go, and guilt me if I don't. She hasn't planned a shower, or helped out at all thus far. Do I fire her? Is is appropriate for me to ask someone else with just 2 months notice?

Ok, here is the deal...I have a good friend and her little sister is getting married. The three of us have been good friends for a long, but I'm stuck on what to get her for her wedding. She is HAVING to have a wedding...she's 17, pregnant, and is going to be living with her mom. So, they don't need house supplies... and baby stuff is NOT a good gift for her "special day". Any ideas for a good "shotgun" wedding gift?!

I am getting married in August and my fiance is Mexican American (Chicano). His family says that we should ask friends and family to sponsor our wedding. How do you go about asking family friends to sponsor your wedding? (Especially those friends that are not familiar with this tradition).

OK, so I'm working with a very small space. Not a traditional church, but a big square room. I really want to find a picture that would be ideal for me to copy, down to the very last detail. Budget is pretty flexible! I wanted to have the entire room lit up by candlelight.

I love him and we've been together for 7 years. I just don't know if I want to get married, in general. I don't want to plan the wedding. It just seems like so much work. If we do it, I just want that run away to an island and get married on the beach. Is that wrong? Did anyone else feel this way?

My future sister in law guilted us into having her son be in our wedding when we told her we picked a friend's 5 year old boy as the ringbearer. We said we would have our jr groomsman and bridesmaid pull a wagon down with the younger boy. My mom went to a wedding where they did this and everyone that is was adorable. The problem is all this child does is cry! Even if his parents are in the room, he is crying. We are getting married outdoors and our aisle is very, very long. Probably almost half of a block. I think that the baby should not be in the wedding because he is going to cry and it will look silly! My future nephew obviously doesn't care if he is in the wedding and really doesn't have a purpose other than just to have him there. We already have our ringbearer. My fiance said if he crys, then his dad can come get him. Once again I think this will look very silly. I know its my wedding but I don't want to come across as a bridezilla. What do you think I should do?

My b/f and I are planning to be married. We've discussed our future, plans, etc. He even said "you know I'm going to marry you." However, he hasnt actually ASKED. We wont be able to get married for a couple of years, so its not something that i'd expect him to do now. But do u think he'll ask or does he just assume that he already did?
