It may be too soon after the event at the moment but does anything think it would be a good idea?

I listened to what people from the 70's said that they predicted an ice age, and as far as I saw in the movies, baby, cause I'm just a n ordinary peaceful citizen of earth, I can judge that it could be possible that secret experiments were done by some organizations that were scared of the ice age, and the result, voila,it is called global warming.
They probably messed with the magnetic field or placed something a device in the orbit.
What do you think?

Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, or used God's name in vain? Jesus said, "Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Have YOU looked with lust? Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you've done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer-at-heart. The Bible warns if you are guilty you will end up in Hell, where you will suffer forever, and I don't mean Katrina bad or earthquake bad because those wounds eventually heal, but this will never end. That's not God's will. He sent his only Son to suffer and die on the cross for YOU. Jesus took your punishment upon Himself: "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then Jesus rose from the dead and defeated death. Please, repent (turn from sin) today and trust in Jesus, and God will grant you everlasting life. Then read your Bible, obey it and lead others to Him.

The world population has more than doubled since 1950. The number of people driving today is about quadruple than in 1950. So why isn't the level of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere higher than reported? Just thinking about all the people exhaling CO2, all the trees we cut down daily, all of the cars on the streets, shouldn't the CO2 levels be much higher if it is man made? From what I have read, CO2 levels have risen about 15-20% since 1950, why not higher?

If people were not littering the planet with more and more people driving cars, producing trash, and using all the natural recources there would not be any problems with the planet. Why is this not an issue with politicians? Maybe they should give tax breaks for people without kids instead of people with kids. We have the power to help the planet but are to scared to tell everyone the problem.

Historically the rich countries has emitted way more greenhouse gases then the poor ones.

What if the rich world decides we don't want to change and reduce the amount of emitted greenhouse gases as much as needed to mitigate global warming but goes the other way by adapting and rebuilding our societies to fit a new climate.

Who do you think should pay the costs for more severe droughts, starvation and floodings in poor countries caused by the changed climate?

Should the rich world just do what we usually does, leave it up to each country and convince them and ourselves they should satisfy with the crumbs we offer them as humanitarian aid, despite the fact that we have caused the problem?

If you don't believe in man made global warming please make this question hypothetical.

People talk here a whole lot about Al Gore's personal behavior, as if it has any meaning about the scientific truth of global warming.

To me he's not involved in the science, he's just spreading the word. He's exactly like a TV preacher talking about God.

So, if you think Al Gore's personal life is important to the scientific truth, please answer this question.

Look at the conclusions they make.

The number of Atlantic Storms between 1905-1930 = 6/yr
The number of Atlantic Storms between 1931-1994 = 10/yr
The number of Atlantic Storms between 1995-2005 = 15/yr

Conclusion: Global Warming is causing more storms.

Look carefully at the data you will clearly see that the data is chosen to fit the conclusion rather than the conclusion is based on facts.

The first set of numbers span 25yrs The second 63yrs the third 10yrs

Why the difference in years? Simple, there is no difference in the number of storms over any fixed time span. Since there were more storms during the 30's-40's then today, this number had to be included with the 60's & 70's when there were fewer storms to get the number to fit the conclusion. Also while claiming that the current years have more storms 06 & 07 were conveniently left off.

Okay, so we're going to design a box to neutralize the atmospheric effects of global warming. Let's assume that all current pollution, exhaust, etc. continues at the same rate...that we can't get anybody to change anything about what they are doing to hurt the atmosphere, but it doesn't get any worse.

1. What would the inputs to the box be? (What substances should the box take in?) (Amounts, if you can.)
2. What would the output from the box be?
(What substances should the box emit?)
3. Assuming our box works almost instantly, returning our atmosphere to the condition it was in before we started messing with it, and neutralizing the current level of pollution, how long would it take before we saw the effects of what we did, and saw climate patterns return to normal?
4. If you think we need more than one box with different processes, please state.
5. If you don't think there is a problem with global warming, go back to the kitchen, get another beer, and chill for a while.

it kinda bugs me how i go through the enviroment section of questions and there is a ton of people answering saying that global change in the climate is not real....... are they trying to say that they are smarter about the subject than scientists who study their whole lives about the climate and the earth.......scientists have proven that there is a global climate change....why cant people just accept it. scientists have proven it is real and i beleive them because that is what they do they are proffesionals, why are some people so ignorant?..

We need to start making changes; the ice caps are melting, and were depleting our natural resources, oil, and lumber ect..

I can't help but feel helpless, I feel like the people in power and have the influence and money to make real changes won't, because their driven to much by dollar signs.

Plus I've also been thinking that a good majority of people are too comfortable with their life styles, and don't want to change to make a difference in this world.

I also get the feeling that many people would like to deny, and or ignore that the world is suffering.

We are affecting our environment, the human population, pollution, and were exhausting our resources, so I don't believe we can just throw up our arms and say it’s not our fault.

I'd also just like to say that if we ignore this, it won't go away, and by the time it seems that most people will take notice is when it’s too late. We won't be able to reverse time and regain all we have lost.

What can we do?

Yet another study has shown that eating beef significantly adds to your carbon footprint. In 'Meat production beefs up emissions' (Thursday July 19 Guardian Unlimited) it states that per 1kg (2.2lbs) of beef produced 'The emissions are equivalent to the amount of CO2 released by an average car every 160 miles, plus the energy consumption is equal to a 100W bulb being left on for 20 days' & that 'producing the meat caused substantial amounts of greenhouse gases & other pollutants', because 'the production of 1kg of beef releases greenhouse gases with a warming potential equivalent to 36.4kg of carbon dioxide'.

This would mean that per 1kg of beef eaten you'd have to offset by purchasing the equivalent of ONE TREE EACH YEAR, because the average offset per mature tree per year is 35kg. Bearing in mind that the beef calculations DID NOT include emissions from farm equipment, or from transporting the meat, or from the effects of DEFORESTATION to clear land for grazing, so...(cont below).

I sincerely believe there is a global warming problem, and it's probably our fault. But most of the measures I've seen to combat it involve raising taxes, forcing companies to regulate their emissions, and pushing laws to limit our everyday behavior (I think it was Australia that banned regular light bulbs) like how much electricity we use, and how we use it.

My question is, is there any method that will reduce global warming that doesn't lessen our freedom?

Hi world! I am German, living in Cancun and I started something really good and big. I even put some videos in youtube. Sorry, the most videos are in German and Spanish and not professional, because I made them alone. But together we could change many things. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/cancunhans In Mexico I already received good critics and many people join my project: On 9th of september at 9 pm everybody has to switch off the lights for 9 minutes and then the people will ask: "Why" This exactly is the moment when the news, tv, radio have to talk about it and then we can respond and inform the people about everything. And for sure the until now closed doors of the rich people and politicians can be opened to start to talk about saving our sick planet. The tecnology like solar panels, electric cars already exist. We only have to modify things. I agree, it will cost a lot of money, but this investments wil even create more jobs. There are no excuses. We can do it - together

When reports about global warming/climate change/etc. are mentioned, the slant is always entirely negative. Surely changes of climate will actually be beneficial to some species or environments? I am prepared to accept that climate balance may be changing but I think the media is biased towards saying it is entirely terrible and not giving us any mention of good things that may come of it.

Lets try this again this link is a reference to what an ice age is no fancy words or charts or graghs:
http://www.teachersparadise.com/ency/en/wikipedia/i/ic/ice_age_1.html
seeing as I tried this once lets try this again I pulled the last one because it just wasn't working. My thoughts take them leave what ever but if all the ice does melt how would it be the end of the world the dino's didn't have ice untill Antrica went south on them, also in all reality the earth is heating up about a degree every 100 years or so, now I know because of humans the earth is in theory going to heat up fast how fast who knows with all this said when will the current ice age end or are we doomed to be in this one forever?????????
