Why does it matter how much the dinner cost?? Why should i tip more money for a 100 dollar meal than a 10 dollar mean whent he person provides the same servcies. Woulding a 5 dollar tip always be appropriate. Please give me a reasoned answer not because that is what we do inthis country.

Never really explored the place, but appears to have less neds than Burntisland and Kirkcaldy, so I would like to see if it is a nice place to go for bar lunches.

Did away with tipping. What if we paid waiters a normal hourly wage and didn't have to tip. Do you think we would be money ahead to take a small increase in our prices at places we would normally tip. Or do you think its better to leave prices the way they are and pay an extra few dollars at the end for tipping.

I went to Perkins late Sunday nite for dinner. Around 10:30pm. I was in the middle of eating my dinner when the cashier came up to my table and asked me if I would like to pay my bill. Apparently she wanted to close out the register. I gave her my credit card and told her that I also wanted a slice of pie to take home. She rang me up and brought me the receipt. Once I finished my dinner, I approached the counter and asked her where my pie was. She appear shocked that I hadn't rec'd it and proceeded to tell me that it wasn't her job to bring me the pie, it was my server's job. I was about to loose my mind. I informed her that she didn't need to explain what a service position was and since when is it the cashier's job to collect my bill before I was 1/2 way done with my dinner and since she felt the need to close me out, she should have brought me the pie. I have never had such an experience in a restaurant. Even someplace like Perkins.

There really should be a no kids section in resteraunts, that way adults can enjoy a meal in peace and not have to put up with screaming annoying kids ruining a good meal.

they have gotten rid of smoking sections in resteraunts, why don't they put the kids section back there?

I am a waitress at a casual fine dining restaurant. We have a lot of repeat clientelle with whom I'm familiar, but we also consistently get a lot of new faces. I'm always friendly and chatty with the people I have served before, as well as new customers.

I was wondering if you think that a waitress who talks to the table and tries to incite a little humor is better, or one who is quiet, leaves the table to their own conversations is better?

Or at the very least, when dining out which do you prefer?

I like Mazzio's...I love their ranch dressing! And when I'm a little low on cash, but want some pizza, I order from a place called Sam & Debbie's Pizza. Their single topping large pizzas are only $3.99!

I have been a waitress for a little over three months now. With a 4 table section on a Sunday, I can make somewhere between $50-100. On a weekday, with a larger section, I can make between $80-100, normally around 80 or lower. The head waitress has been waitressing for a lot longer, understandable, and makes more than me, but I would like to make as much as she is - any tips? (no pun intended)

Example: I was having breakfast in a diner. My order came out with potatoes on my plate that I did not order. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she reached over to my plate and scooped them up with her hand. It makes me lol now, but at the time I was totally shocked!

If ur a waitress, doesn't it annoy u when ppl order vast amounts of lemon and ask for sugar? I mean water, lemon and sugar are free. I have kindly offered, "we have lemonade, if u'd like mam/sir". whew, all that lemon wedges and sugar crumbs everywhere. Why not just order a lemonade, from fountain or bottle. I know, they're too cheap to pay for beverage. Can't do anything about it but doesn't this wanna make u grind ur teeth?

If they amended the smoking ban law so you could smoke from 10pm to 6am in resturants & bars would you past it? They have already changed this bill in my state several times after it pasted. I don't smoke but I dislike seeing other peoples rights taken away.

I've been waitressing for many years, since high school and currently college. I know what makes customers happy, welcome&returning. Given good/excellent full service, it is COURTEOUS to tip your waitress. I'm not saying give me handouts; there are hard-workers busting in other professions. We all start somewhere. Don't say "ur not giving good service like u think" b/c I have many customers requesting that I specifically wait on them (we do not have our own tables btw). Not only on this basis, I do take a step back and make sure everyone is happy & things in order.
I "remember" this certain lady dines in every other week & every time, never leaves a tip. Yesterday, she comes again & I add in a 15% service charge to her bill *authorized by manager too. She works for Coca Cola, I'm sure their employees make descent income. I explain nicely, calmly why I did so. She refused to pay b/c its not require by law (yeah, I know). Do u think its ok to charge tip on a repeated cheap-hole?

What do you feel is an appropriate tip for good service as compared to great service, and do you think that it is ever okay to tip poorly, rudely (money in waterglasses, pennies), or not at all?

some of my white friends totally have this attitude about dining. it's like they are so ... I don't know what it is, but i'm just like, relax, does it really matter? and then they're like, I'm not tipping because they wouldn't let me share my tea. it's like they're just looking for an excuse to be mean.
