Hi,

I have recently tried to install a new memory module to my machines PC and after the install, due to defective memory module, my PC won't boot up anymore. I am guessing my hard drive in the PC is still fine. Is there a way transfer my files from my unbooted PC to an external drive ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

just about 5 miniutes ago my compter came up with the blue scree. so i thought oh well and then i went to bed. i got in bed 1 minute later my computer started up again without me touching it. what could have happend p.s im 14 years old and my hands are shaking

I have an old iMac 266 (running Mac OS9.2.2) that I keep for guests to check email on, etc. and an IBM pc clone running Windows XP SP2. I want to use my portable hard drive (Pocketec DATASTOR USB2.0) to transfer files between machines. What file system do I need to format the drive with so it can be read by both machines?

I received an email and the link (attatchment) had pps at the end of it. I clicked on the link and it asked me did I want to save this file or find it? I chose find, and was taken to Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 webpage. Now what? I don't have Powerpoint, so how do I access this email? I hope someone can explain in simple terms. This is the second or third such type email I've received like this, and I don't want to miss out on a good email.

when I go to play a movie clip online or listen to the radio online it says that additional pluggins are needed and it has a pic of a puzzle piece where the video should be showing.....but it doesn't give me an option as to what I need to download....what am I missing that will allow me to listen to the radio and watch music videos online?

when i was on my computer it froze and i tried everything to make it unfreeze but eventually i restarted it and every time i start up my computer it takes 20-25 minutes to pass the motherboard and i can never reach the windows startup. ANY HELP???

I would like to know if there is any way to "break" my computer so that no one can use it, but it is easily reversible. The reason i am asking is that, people have just been on my computer without asking me, but i don't want to tell them they can't use it. So they can't use it if it seems to be "broken"! I gotta write a paper in my MIS class. Anyone got any suggestions what and how to write on it. Any help will be really appreciated.
Basic guidelines to write a term-paper on look something like this...
a) requirements and design analysis for IS
b) Analysis of commercial product offerings in the IS area
c) Strategic role and applications of IS.
d) IS infrastructure.
e) Management of IS organizations
f) Managing IS in the implementation and operational stages.
g) Management of IS organizations

I can pick a topic...but I have no idea how to start or enhance it in terms of real-world appications.
Just need basic help.

At the back of my sister's computer is a red switch between the port that carries the electricity to the computer. IT says on it 230 volts and 115 volts, it was set to 230 volts already and i accidentally switched it to 115 volts by my hand that slipped on to it. Then i seen a blue light where the fan was and the computer suddenly turned off. Now the computer does not come back on - i cannot switch it on even though the plug and switch for it is on in the socket. What the heck just happened?
