I have windows 98 and am satisfied with it but if I have to upgrade to get another package then I will have to buy another computer. Why do I have to change???

Do to an injure to my fingers I find it difficult to use a laptop keyboard that has a touch pad in front of the keyboard. This is not a problem when I attach a seperate keyboard but when I am traveling it can be difficult. I have found the best laptop is the IBM Thinkpad because it uses the "trackpoint" However, I would like to look into other brands but I haven't been able to find one with the same or similar. Several years ago I had another brand of laptop that also used this technology so it is ether not just on IBM/Lenovo or it has been licensed elswhere. If anyone knows any other brands that have this as an option, please let me know. Thanks! Also if any brands have a smaller touchpad it would also be useful.

I have lost my prodcut key for my winxpsp1disk. My grandson got a hold of my disk cover and destroyed the product key. Is it stored on my computer after installation? I am needing to re-install winsxpsp1 because I have a virus. Please help!

My laptop randomly shuts off all the time and then when i go to turn it back on, it checks the disks and tells me there was an error in the file type FAT32. Does anyone know what that means? Or how I can fix it? Does it mean my computer is getting overheated? (I leave it on all the time because I use it so often) Real answers please :(

We have a computer technician at school who is leaving after 10 years and we want to get him something but cant think of anything. If we get him something like a new monitor then it will become out dated. Any ideas?

Ok. I was playing chess on yahoo and then my computer went crazy. I got a weird script error and the next thing I know, my windows toolbar (down near the start menu) is double in size. A picture can be seen at this link (its safe, imageshack is a image hosting service):

I understand that the toolbar can be customized and moved, but it wont allow me to change the location (top of window, left/right side). When I scroll the mouse to the top part of the toolbar I get the double (up/down) arrow. If I move it down the toolbar collapses and is hidden. If I move it up, the toolbar will climb about halfway up the screen. I cannot get the toolbar back to the default location.

The toolbar is not locked. I have tried every key on the keyboard to make sure nothing is stuck. I've tried everything I can think of. Nothing seems to work.

Anybody have any ideas?

My lawyer sent me back a file that contains his comments to different passages in the text. Is there a way to view the document so that the comments appear next to the passage they refer to?

okay my MAC OSX started screwing up so i decided to restart it and it said mac connot restart because aol instant messanger wont let it close or whatever so i pulled the plug and restarted it that way and you know how raight when you restart it it comes on to a grey screen with a tiny folder blinking the question mark and the mac face yeha well mine blinked this tiny box with a blue world blinking it took forever then went back to the blinking folder and FINALLLyy went to the loggin screen,one problem my keyboard wont let me type in my password so i unplugged the keyboard usb and stuck it back in and it started typing random letters and wouldnt stop plus my mouse arrow was being wacky,so now i cant even log in!! whats the problem how can i fix this? im so dead if my parents find out helpp

I have just given an old pc to my parents, it has been stored away fro a year, and it has a password on the administrators account which i cant remember.
Im sure this has happened before and ive gotten into windows without going on the administrators account.
At the moment i cant access anything on the computer becuase the administrator log in screen just keeps coming up.
Can anyone help?

I think microsoft made vista ask every security question for installing or changing anything and everything to alevate there responsibility to the consumer. If you answer yes and you have problems because of a hacker then it is now your responsibility to fix it is the way I can see this working.
