I have a TH 350 trans in a '76 Vette. We put a new carb and intake on. It shifts into 2nd too soon now. The kickdown cable on the carb doesn't seem to be adjusted too short. I suspect a vacuume problem, as the new set up is producing a lot more vacuume than before. I don't know if that can be adjusted even if that is the problem. Any ideas?

I was told by someone selling a 97 Chevy Blazer that the freeze plugs are bad. What the heck are freeze plugs and if they are bad he said it will need a new engine. Is that accurate? If it can be fixed w/o a new engine what will it cost?

My nanny drives a 2000 Ford Windstar minivan, and sometimes it doesn't start, as if it is not getting any gas. We took it to the mechanic, but could not find anything wrong. The battery is good, the starter is good, starter celenoid (sp?) is good, fuel pump good, and the fuel filter was changed. I insist that the nanny uses 91 octane gasoline sold at reputable stations (chevron, shell, etc.). The starting problem is a concern for me because the nanny picks up my daughters at school, and takes them to ballet lessons, etc.

The starting problem is a mystery to me. The most difficult thing is that this doesn't happen all the time. Just occasionally. Someone suggested that we should not let the gas tank get under half full. Well, the tank was over half full when the van wouldn't start the last time. I have read that there was a recall having to do with the fuel lines. Could this have something to do with it?

Your responses are appreciated.

and then shift it into 5 gear as quickly as possible once you reach the speed you want to be going.

Is it a good thing to be in 5th though if you're only going 35 mph?

Where as traditionally, I've heard you can get better gas milage by accellerating as slowly as possible.

I need to move a 6000 lb tractor from Missouri to Kansas. I'll be traveling on the interstate. It's a 212 mile trip. What legal requirements do I have to follow for the trailer, lighting, rigging, etc? My tow vehicle is a ball hitch F250. It has a 7contact (6 on the outside and 1 in the center) round wiring receptacle.

The overall condition of the car itself is fine, but the plastic bumper fell off, i just need to order a new one and put it back, I want to extend the rental limit till the car is fixed. Is it legal if I go to a body shopand fix the car there without telling the rental company? (since it will look exactly the same...)

We traded in our 2000 Nissan Sentra plus $500 down payment. ($4,000down payment) We got to the dealership to "look", showed us some vehicles. We saw a 2003 Ford Explorer. Sticker price $499/month. liked it, but too high. THe guy said he could get it UNDER 400.We went inside and did some talking, ran our "VERY GOOD" credit. Said is was def. possible to do it under 400/month. So we had to sign some paper, saying we "agree" to do business with them. We did so (stupid us now) because we were told it would be under $400/month. They did some checking with the bank over and over, trying to make a deal. They came back and said 375/month. So we agreed to it. Sounded good. Well, we got back ot the room to sign things. They would NOT TELL US how much the vehicle was until we got back to the room, after we signed the papers. NUTSHELL= Kelly's Bluebook value is 11k. After fin. we are going to pay 27k for it. we're paying 416/month. They ripped us off. We don't want it now, bc of that, what now?
