I have a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire. A while back while driving my "Service" light came on, and was then followed by my "Trac Off" and my "((ABS))" light. We initially thought that it was just a warning light to get the brakes changed.
The brakes have been replaced - both front and back. Including rotors. The lights are still on.
Also, sometimes right before the lights come on, and when you first step on the brake there's very slight resistance in the brake pedal and it makes a noise that sounds like a motor of sorts shutting down.
Is it possible that the sensor is bad for the ABS system. And that the noise I hear is the ABS actually shutting off?
Anyone have any experience with this problem?
I took it to Meineke for an oil change and the 16 or 24 point inspection and they never mentioned why it was on, but did mention that I needed brakes. I had figured that it would solve the problem. But it hasn't.
Thanks!
