to see if the alternator is junk, i unhooked the positive cable from the battery. is this a sound tactic for determining whether it's the alternator that is draining the battery?i did this in my truck too, to see if that alt. was bad and the truck still ran. but in the car when i did this the car stopped running. F.Y.I.... the airbag light flashes right before the battery goes dead. and before that happens, the airbag light just stays on. bad alternator?? a thanks a mill.

I don't know if it was because of the hard water or something, but it is hard to drive at night.

I read a lot of answer hear and other web sites. Some say leave it off except for highway diving. Other Say leave it on and some even say leave it off. What happens if you leave it off all the time? I have a Nissan Automatic with an overdrive switch.

Sorry if wrong category.

I was allegedly clocked at 41 with a laser and will admit that I could've been doing 35 (which is within legal guidelines) and I would swear on a stack of bibles that I wasn't doing more than that. Do I have an recourse apart from court action (which means I'll end up with higher fine/points) ?????

How do I know if my car title is clean or salvaged? The car has been in an accident where someone hit me and it needed body work but nothing as far as engine or transmission has ever been damaged. I am trying to sell it and everyone wants to know if the title is clean or salvaged. I honestly don't know. Is this something I would know if it was listed as salvaged? If not, how do I find out?

Ok, my mom totaled her car a few weeks ago so she has to get a new one.
With the new one, she is not allowed to drive it so the car is really mine.
Anyway, we found a 1995 Dodge Neon for 1000 dollars. Is it worth it? The car is a really pretty blue color.

But our grandpa does not want us to get it. He wants to buy her a car.
If he does buy us a car, I was considering a 2001 Ford Focus for 3995 dollars. Or a 2000 Dodge Neon for the same price.

Is the Ford Focus or 2000 Dodge Neon better than the cheaper older Neon? Even though it is more expensive. But it is not that much more expensive.

If my mom gets the 1995 Dodge Neon, she is buying it tomorrow so we need to make the decision fast. Or should we wait for my grandpa to buy her a car? If we buy it, we save him 3000 dollars or more.

What is a good fair price to charge an individual to remove and re-install a transmission on an older model monte carlo for the car owner to take the transmission rebuilt elsewhere.
We are only concerned with a fair price to remove and re-install, the transmission will be re-built by another shop.
The individual taking the transmission out does not rebuild them.

Or does it mostly just improve the ground clearance? I was off roading recently and came upon a few obstacles where having a greater angle of approach would have helped me get over the obstacle. Wondering if a lift kit would improve this situation or not, and, if so, by how much?

Truck has a new thermostat. How can the upper radiator hose be hot and the lower hose be cold if coolant is moving through the system? If the coolant is not moving thru, then why doesn't the engine overheat.

Alright, I have a Nissan Sentra (2002) 1.8 Ltr 1 owner, bad maintenance record, I changed the oil today, and the car is stalling out. It will start after a bit of trying, but will die after one or two minutes. I am thinking its 1. the fuel filter, 2. the fuel pump (not likely), 3. the Fuel injectors (clogged) but thats where it is yet. It gets picked up tomorrow and put in the shop to see if anyone is correct. Timing seems to still work as the engine runs normally for its brief minute before stalling out.

I have a Mazda 6 04 and i learned about this mod to do on the airbox which takes out a few parts that was interupting the flow of air. A week or two after that the Check Engine light came on. I had it tested and the code said it was a "evap Leak". It is a known problem that the gas cap doesnt fully seal. But Im wondering if any of this could have any relation to the airbox mod.

They both have the same basis in the old O series engine, so I just wondered if anyone had actually seen it done either an engine swap or conversion or knows a sound reason why not.
I fancy a fast MG ZR but not the K series engine.
