just looking for opinions on new truck drivers.
years ago u worked your way into a truck, started maybe on a dozer moved up to a grader then a tandem dump truck then a tractor tailer, basically a try out u get the idea. but now any body can take a 6 week course and come out with a license. these courses are set up to make money and that's it, so everone is pretty well guaranteed to come out with a license.(i have never ever heard of any one failing)
we have a small foresry operation, and the guy that halls our wood get's all kinds, one guy took 1 hour to back off the road and down a freld, at the end i just hocked the forwarder to the end of the trailer and drug the dumbass back. and then there is others that can put a truck places most people couldn't put a 1/2 ton.
so is this really safe?
these people are basically green drivers hauling huge loads with little or no experence. we make teen drivers go through more

Ok, you all know how there is a little jug container in the motor area that is for anti freeze? I've been told before that so your car wont over heat you have to keep that a full level. But I have also been told that it doesn't matter if it's empty, because that is where the excess antifreeze goes. Which one is right? I don't want my car to break!

Yesterday, I stopped in to a mechanic who checked everything. I do need a new sensor on my car and had an air bubble in the hose. He added coolant, and said I need a sensor which he said he would order and put on the car. I might add that recently, I had a new thermostat put in. An hour later, as usual, my car was running hot again. I was told that I could drive this car without the thermostat and that would solve the problem. I am no mechanic, obviously, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!. Why is my car always running hot?

I have thin tires and they are very expensive. They are basically brand new, and I just ran over a nail. the nail is in my tire, and no air is leaking out yet, but i want to get that nail out. Am I able to plug this somehow? Do i need to take it to a tire place? Thanks

I briefly researched the topic on Wikipedia but was left with no real good answers. I can see high volumes causing this in the right lanes where cars are merging in, but in the speed lane there appears to be no good explanation. Also, a co-worker and I have noticed that traffic is best on days with OK weather but that are overcast. A bright sun seems to have a negative impact on flow.

I want to know why they have not come out with an all-wheel drive Mustang, even if it were just used for racing.

Do you think they will try to be more efficient (car pooling or public transit, buying hybrid cars), or do you think we'll start seeing more Hummers and F650 Superkrews on the road?

I need a car, but have no clue as to what brand/model would be good. I need good gas milage, large trunk space (must hold 20 computer paper cartons, camping gear for six people & three tables& still have visability for the rear window.) A stick shift, good brakes, decent radio signal and a rear wiper would be a plus as well. A decent price (around 13,000$US). Everything else does not matter.
Everytime I go to a dealership they show me these things that have too many features which they won't take off (power windows? Please!) and are not going to last very long. One tried to sell me a station wagon, but it was so low I cannot see it hauling my business up a mountain side to a rural campsite without damaging the undercarrage. and the trucks I've seen are too small.
Any advise?.

Hi All,
About a month ago my 97 Sunfire GT automatic started to develop a slight "knocking" sound. About the best way I can describe it is when the universal on a rear wheel drive vehicle starts to go bad. It is a consistent knocking\thumping sound that gets faster the faster I drive, it starts to get noticable at around 25mph. It is not a loud noise and I can't see that it has effected performance. But what ever it is it is something that is rotating and it appears to have a "Bad" spot as it rotates. It is never random, always evenly spaced out and proportional to the speed I am driving. Driving the car I can just barely feel the thumping under my feet. Really not noticable unless you drive the car everyday.

I check bearing, tires, brakes, rotors and all OK. Maybe a CV joint? If so, how could I check this myself?
Thanks
