It would be a daily driver but how bad would the rainy season hinder my driving? It doesn't snow much but would it be any worse than a regular car in the rain? I had an 89 which was terrible but it was also more than 15 years old.

The gearlever on my 1999 LWB 3000cc V6 Pajero has become very stiff. I think the problem is with the selector/lever rather than the gearbox. The dealer reckons its the syncromesh but I don't think it is as the gears never crash or grate.

Any ideas?

...ignore road marshals if they aren't supported by the police? The people who usher traffic at events during weekends?

There is a guy in my town who takes great delight in donning his day-glo yellow vest every Sunday and stepping out in to the road to usher traffic around the lanes in our neighbourhood, usually supporting groups of ramblers who are using the roadway- you know the sort.

He really is getting up on his high-horse, thinking he's some sort of British Dirty Harry and, if he isn't working with the Police, can I ignore him when he jumps out in the road and holds up his hand? Surely he doesn't have the right to direct traffic if it isn't his job?

OK rant over...thanks!

...to get hold of cars costing £0-£50, real bangers that need TLC but still run? I'm in need of a project car for our house of 5 to learn the basics of mechanics (all students) and, as long as the thing runs, condition isn't important. I'm aware of asking about in scrap yards etc etc, but wondered if there was a singular resource that deals with these sort of cars in the UK?

Cheers

A local garage diagnosed that our 2001 Mazda MPV's transmission needs major repair. Planetary gears, and the main drive. We have an exteneded warranty that covers this, depending on the cause. Do I let the dealer know that we have the warrenty beofre they work on it? This Mazda dealer has been pretty sleazy with past warranty work. Denying it, saying that it isn't covered with out even speaking to the extended warranty co.

I need to have some driving lessons but am not sure who to learn with. Would be grateful if people could let me know of instructors they/friends have used and found good (and passed their tests with!), or friends who are driving instructors etc. that they would recommend in the east of Canary Wharf area.
