I have filed my taxes through H&R Block online. I got a email saying that my return was accepted yesterday and then a few hours later I got another email saying that my refund will be deposited in my account within 48 hours. Does this sound right? I thought that they did refunds on fridays for direct deposit not on a tuesday or wednesday. Also would the irs accept my refund yesterday as stated? (was it not a holiday for them?)

I'm a graduating senior majoring in finance at the University of Wisconsin. I am familiar with personal and home business tax returns. I would like to earn some money on the side by helping other people do their tax returns for them. I do not have a CPA.

Do I need any special type of licensing or do I need to meet any specific requirements? What stuff do I need to take care of before I go out there and start promoting myself as somebody who can do taxes?

After my holidays in England, I usually get a tax refund at the airport for purchases made while on holidays. You only need to show your sales receipts and the tax forms filled by all the stores where you made your purchases, to be able to claim your refund at the airport on your way out of England.

I purchased my first home in November 06, and put money down as well as paid closing costs. I've since been unemployed and now, two months later, do not have savings left, since they went toward the house. Can I close my IRA, which is only a few thousand dollars, and use it for current expenses, since that was what I would have done with the money we had saved if we hadn't just bought the house?

According to someone I know who does accounting, they said that the money I invested in my business this year is not taxable. They said that since I loaned the money to the business as start up capital, it's not taxed if the business shows it as a loan repayment. So basically all the money I collected from the business last year would make my yearly income = $0 The business also had a net loss. So am I to understand that the IRS is not going to raise a huge red flag that I am claiming to have made no money in 2006? They said if I consider the money compensation then it would be taxed and the business would still owe me the start up cash. If it's shown as a debt repayment, it's not taxable.
