I am trying to protect my identity, and personal information. Recently a person online without my permission or knowledge posted quite a bit of information about me, that they apparently found online. It was very troubling that people can find information out about you so easily. I want to protect myself. Every single Government agency, every financial institution, every healthcare provider has to have your social security number now. It didn't used to be that way. I don't know of any way I can protect myself from identity theft - how can I? thanks

I am about to go into partnership with a friend of mine. He is a painter/decorator and when we were looking at the local adverts of other painters we noticed that most were CIS registered. From what i can gather this is only relevant if the person is going to be a sub-contractor, which my friend is not going to be (he will be an employed director of the company). Is this correct or does he have to be (or the compnay) CIS registered no matter what?

How can I sell my half to my brother without getting screwed, regarding capitol gains taxes? It's not my primary residence.
It's a $300,000 dollar property with $60,000 left on the mortgage. What would you do?

Nice article in Wall Street Journal today... the stock is off 30% and just recently bounced off a multiyear low.. Looks like a shake up is on the verge... perhaps change in upper management.. a big merger...further acquisitions... a buy out??? Many options... the stock now sits at 26.9... trailing GOOG in search and fading... can it recover?? Will it?? How???

I left USA in 1995 and now after 10 years I am planning to work there for a
short time. When I left USA, i owed some money to a phone service company
($700) and had to pay card (shop cards) bills worth of $1500. I did not settle these paymemts and left USA. Now as I am planning to come back to US for a a period of 2 years, I wish to find out:

1. Will my non-payments affect my life in the US in any way ?
2. Can I open a back account
3. Can i get a credit card ?
4. Will there be any other potential legal problems ?
5. Will i need a new SSN ?

Could you please let me know if there will be any problems ?

Thanks,

Suk

I have a bunch of coins from Mexico that I would like to cash in for US currency. I also had Brazilian paper money that I was able to cash in at my bank, however, they said they couldn't take the coins.

Is there somewhere, besides a bank, that will exchange the coins for me?

I am 19 years old and considering renting/moving into a house by myself. I currently live between my parents’ house and a share house, but I find it difficult to stay at either house for more than a few days as I have a tendency to argue and become violent, punching or kicking walls, etc. to avoid hurting people. I like these people; I just can’t live with them. I have tried sorting out the underlying problems, but other people are not willing to make the effort for it to work.

I have a part time job in a department store earning nearly $400 a week, I don’t mind being alone but I will still be close to friends, family, work, etc. I have been described as mature for my age, and I don’t mind what sort of house I live in or things like that, so long as it is relatively close to work.

I feel that moving into a house by myself is the only answer, but people around me say it is a bad idea without giving me a decent reason. Is it such a bad idea? What else can I do?

I need your help to help me figure out something.
If I have an investment that pays out 1% every month and I reinvest that 1% into the fund, what is the rate of return I get by the end of the year?

Here's the math. I invest $100000 into a fund. The fund pays out 1% for every dollar that i invest in. So, each month, I get $1000. At the end of the year, I get $12000 total.

But what if I take the $1000 and reinvest it into the fund. So, I get extra $10 for second month, $10.10 third month, $10.20 forth month, etc... I compound the investment.

So, at year one, what rate of return do i get? and second year as well?

I have a general idea of 6% but can anyone confirm this with me?

thank you
