I am interested in buying a house in australia (i'm in australia). it has been on the the market for a few weeks. I have booked in a building/pest inspection (usually what you do after you sign a contract with a building/pest clause)

A friend suggested that getting an inspection before making a bid will cause the seller to elevate his asking price because he knows i've spent the money on an inspection before bidding..

My thoughts originally were that if i get the inspection first i can negotiate with it.... but perhaps my friend is right, i could theoretically negotiate with a pest/building after making a bid

OK, I'm 34 years old, a single parent who has a 13 year old, and I do not have much savings. I want to know what is the better plan for my age with not much savings but would like to "catch up".. Where should I put my money? I've heard of multiple places and answers but I would like to hear yours also. Give me some sort of detail on why your answer would benefit me the most. Thanks to all who answer!

Hi,

I was working for an US multinational company in India. The company had given me stock options and i sold all the vested options after i left the company 2 months back.

I would like to know will i have to pay any tax on it. If yes, at what rate? Wouldnt it be considered as a long term capital gain. All vested options were over an year old.

It will be great if you can help me understand this.

Thanks in advance!

My roommate recently completed some freelance audio work for a local businessman. They had an oral agreement as to the hourly rate of payment. The work was done during my roommates freetime, because he is also a student. After completion, he brought his log of hours worked with the completed project to his employer. The employer, after accepting the work, decided he will not pay the agreed upon wage. Instead, he is offering much less. The amounts involved are a little under $1,000 so bringing legal action is not of interest. Has the employer done any kind of legal wrong? Is there anything my roommate can do to receive something close to the original rate, and still retain a professional reference?

Hello! I'm considering going back to school to pursue an associates in nursing to be an RN (or at least start off as an LPN/LVN). I am interested in nursing to 1) help people and 2) to have a stable career. But I have done some searching online, and have found quite a few current nurses who hate their careers. Many of these ladies (and men) site cattiness and backstabbing at work, verbally abusive doctors and patients, and no support. As a male, I realize that I would be going into a female-dominant field, so I would expect some friction there. But this abusive behavior seems to be spread across the board! Such a negative work environment would make this career unbearable. What are your expereinces with this? I know it is a high stress field, but that does not excuse the supposed lack of professional respect. Here is the site I found these opinions at for reference:

www.aboutmyjob.com

What are your honest opinions about today's nursing field as a job?

I have been at my current job for 10 years and was recently offered a great job with a different company. Currently I work with a small staff that is very dependent on me. How do I leave without upsetting and offending people I have worked for/with for so long? I do not want to burn any bridges and want to leave as gracefully as possible. I thought I would give four weeks notice. Any other suggestions?
