I've been using Chi Straight Guard as a heat protectant when I straighten my hair. It makes me hair silky smooth and soft, but it really does a terrible job or protecting my hair from my flat iron heat. I was wondering if a gel would be more protective. What do you guys think? What's the best heat protectant for hair straightening? (type of product and if you could give a specific product that be great too :))

I have dark mousy blonde hair that always goes orangey when I highlight. I have tried many at home products mostly with bad results, UNTIL NOW.

I had half grown out hair so my results are on virgin hair and old processed hair. I used Clairol Nice n Easy 106A dark neutral blonde. (A product I had not used before) It evened out my hair beautifully. It looked natural but flat. So, I tried Revlon Frost & Glow Honey Highlights for BROWN HAIR not blonde hair. (They have 3 types: blonde, brown and dark brown hair) The cap is time consuming and you can get a little cross eyed trying to find the holes in the back, but worth the results. The cap has a pre-perferated outer cap and you have to punch the hook through the inner cap liner. This is great because then the creme doesn't drip throught the unused holes like some other brands. I left it on for about 30 minutes. Presto!

I saved a third of the powder and developer unmixed so I could go in and highlight some thicker streaks and tips.

I have medium-ish length hair and use Fructis Sleek & Shine for my usual shampoo and conditioner (my hair is really dry). Should I go with the same sort of line for a clarifying shampoo if they have one?

If not, what are some good clarifying shampoos for dry hair? Do I condition after using it? What's the standard procedure?

Last week I got my hair cut, but I swear there are still split ends. The hair is dry and frizzy at the ends on the front (like my bangs) but in the back it's fine. Would the hair dresser really leave split ends??

Even though I am 16 now, I live in a house where I have to do what my parents want me to do, as far as clothes, fashion and even hobbies and stuff. My mom is kind of old fashioned about what girls should wear, like skirts and dresses, not pants etc. Now she's started to take me to a hair salon EVERY week for a roller set. and insists I set my own hair mid-week too when I wash it. I feel like an old granny. Do any young people set their hair still?

my boyfriend keeps mocking me because i have some kind of moustache, and i actually have hair which normally everybody has in that area - nothing abnormal. it doesn't even stand out, but he developed a thing for it uhh..and i asked him 'do you want me to remove it' and he said 'no..no no yes! no.. no leave it, i don't want you to change for me'. but he really got me thinking and i thought of removing it with depilatory strips.. but i heard that once you remove it, you have to remove it all the time because it will grow thicker or longer and you make some kind of pimples around your lips. if i do this, will it grow thicker?? what are the advantages and the disadvantages?

I know this may be hard to do, but I am wanting opinions about my hair. I am a 34 year old, SAHM of 2 young children. I am only 5ft3in and I am a heavy woman, with a round face, green/blue eyes and an olive tone to my skin. Currently, my hair is very long, 1/2way down my back, with bangs. It is chesnut brown(natural) and starting to gray. I wash my hair and brush it, that is all. No style, no heat, no spray or product. Should I get it cut/colored? What color and style? How short? Should a heavy woman have short hair? Doesn't it make her face fatter?

I want my hair cut like my avatar picture. I want to get it cut in that short-cropped spikey cut. When I go to the salon how do they start off doing it? Does anybody else have their hair cut like this?

I have my hair colored every 6-8 weeks. It costs a fortune and I would like to maintain the color between appointments. My hobby is boating, so I am in the sun all of the time in the summer.

Doing a search on-line I found some hair sunscreens, but I would like to find one with a very high spf and good conditioning.

Any recommendations?

From a previous mistake of dying my hair black, I had to strip it. I colored it a golden brown and it was dark enough to not cry about the orange tones, so I left it alone. Then after some months, I decided to try again. I stripped it again with bleach and used a lighter neutral dark blonde and it is very orange now. I've left it alone but I have been looking up ways to correct it. Many are saying if you are going to do it at home, to put an ash color on top of the hair to neutralize the orange, but I don't want a green either. Is that likely to happen if I put an ash on top of my hair now?

I'm a 45 year old man. When I was younger, my hair was red mixed with medium ash blonde, and my beard was solid red. As I've gotten older my hair is medium ash blonde mixed with grey and my beard is solid grey. My wife while she was among the living (she died in June :) ) was going to dye my hair back to red again and bought the hair color. She bought a box of Copper Dark Blonde color which is quite red. I'm not sure if I should color my hair at all, color it red, color it to be an ash-blonde color or whatever. The red seems a little much, but it looked fine when I was 20. But I'm not 20 anymore. Thought other people might know more than me. As you know a man can't dress a woman, and a man can't dress a man, but a woman can dress a woman and a woman can dress a man. (not always the case, but most of the time..) I don't know why my hair changed colors. It makes no sense to me. My brother's hair is still red. My other brother's hair got dark instead. No idea why.
thanks

I have wavy/frizzy hair and I don't like straightening it all the time because it's made alot of my hair fall out!! I like putting mousse in and having it curly, but after I've slept on it, it looks really straggly and frizzy/dry again. Does anyone have any tips of how I can get a nice curly look again the next morning? Because I don't like washing my hair in the morning to re-mousse it!
THANKS :)
