I think that New Jersey did the right thing in a way. I feel sorry for the families that have to go through all of this.

My husband and I are looking to buy a 1994 honda accord from a friend. She says that there is an oil leak from the rear main seal. How serious is this? Does it need to be fixed right away or can we get the car and wait until the end of January to fix it, and just watch the oil level in the meantime? And about how much does that repair cost? I've heard about 300 dollars because of labor.

i've found that it's pretty much fair play here as far as questions that are asked. every time i ready a question which might be insulting to atheists, i usually can find one that's insulting to believers. and so it's fair. if we say something insulting about you, you're within your rights to say something back. what i'm not convinced is fair is the account suspension process. i'm curious to know how many here have had their account suspended and how many accounts have you had suspended as well. also list if you're religious or non-religious.

I've heard that there are so many special things that had to occur for life to exist, such as distance from sun, chemical compositions, etc. and that these "miracles" prove the existence of god. But as science has increased our limited knowledge of things, we no know that we are not the center and in fact there is nothing special or notable about our location in the cosmos.

As far as the odds of rolling 1000 dice and getting all 6's and comparing those odds to the chance that random chemicals coming together in the correct quantity and configuration to produce life are statistically improbable aren't the odds exactly the same for the sequence which turns up each time you roll 1000 dice yet they always produce a "sequence" however statistically improbable it is.

Furthermore doesn't the causal problem still exist if you use god as the source since you would then have to explain his cause. If it is imposible for the universe to exist without god then isn't god just as imposible.

There is a guy at my mother's work and she won't shut up about finding something to do about it. She keeps yelling at me to look up something to do about it but I can't find anything. i told her to give him some stuff to make him smell good as a present from anonymous. She says, "It's a funk! In my last job I had a great desk near a westerly facing window so most plants survived. In my new job I'm nowhere near any windows so the only light a plant will get will be from the fluorescent bulbs.

Ideally I'd like a nice, smallish plant, that will grow and need some pruning now and again. Also if it could grow something (fruit, herbs, flower, berries, etc) that would be great.

Any ideas?

I have two best friends, which I can now see isn't the best thing in the world. My one friend, Let's call her Maggie, and I have been friends for about four years. In fifth grade me and "Maggie" met my other best friend, let's call her Julie. Well ever since last year "Maggie" has been almost obsessed with "Julie" every single day it's, "do you know where julie is? were you talking to her last night?" and on and on. one day me and julie were out sick and i was texting my friend and maggie was with her so she takes the phone and says "is julie ok?" closely followed by "are you with her?" she's constantly thinking i'm with julie instead of her. and recently it's been annoying. she doesn't seem to care about me at all and she makes me feel like crap. she's an airhead so you cant just not talk to her and expect her to know what she did like other people, she needs you to spell it out for her. what should i do?

A woman and a man are involved in a car accident; it's a bad one. Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt.

After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says, "So you're a man, that's interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but fortunately we are unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days."

Flattered, the man replied, "Oh yes, I agree with you completely!"

"This must be a sign from God!" The woman continued, "And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune."

Then she hands the bottle to the man, The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman.

The woman takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap back on, and hands it back to the man.

The man asks, "Aren't you having any?"

I've had my parakeet for about two or three years. It's cage is large enough for him, but I feel like he'd be happier if he had another parakeet to be friends with.

If someday I decide to get a bigger cage, can I put the new parakeet in the same cage as the old one, or are they territorial like cats? I don't want to get a new bird if the old one is just going to beat it up.

My department has it's own Xmas party and I was not informed/invited. This has happened to me for the last 6 years... This year it planned by a person that I considered my friend. She was excluded herself a few years back when someone else was the planner and she was devastated at the time. She even made mention at that time the if she were ever chosen to be the planner "she would NEVER exclude anyone" Now that it's her turn she has excluded me... I care some what but im mostly confused ... Part of me says do what I always do ... I generally just "pretend" not to know about the party. The other part of me wants to ask her why she too has chosen not to invite me?
Should I ask her about this ???

Another coworker "broke code" and let me in on the party plans and that she and others were told not to tell me or talk about the party in front of me. This person advised me to "go with her " Which of course I would never do !

I have a 50 gal reef tank whose pH is too low, about 8.0, I want the pH to go up to 8.3 - 8.4, and I have a safe additive to do that, but what is the equation to determine, based on the pH of the input solution, how much I would need, or what concentration of X volume of additive I'd need to raise the 55 + X gallons to 8.3 pH ? FYI I'm actually using this, I"m not a college flake trying to get someone else to do my homework for me :D

I heard that you can add washer to your forks, and it will stiffen them up, i have a 110cc pit bike, and the forks are to loose for me, if the washer thing is true where do i add the washers, and what else can i do to help them stiffen up, they are not inverted, and have no adjustment nob. thanks
