I work and I go to college. I have a 4 yr old daughter. We live with my parents but I try hard to take care of her on my own. I called the state the other day and asked about food stamps they told me as long as I live with my parents I cant get foodstamps until I'm 22. I think thats stupid even though I buy mine and my daughters own food I can't get foodstamps for another year. Why is there an age limit on foodstamps when you live with your parents?

We define "Present" as an instant, a very small interval of time.
We define "Past" and "Future" in relation to the Present.
Since, mathematically, to the limit, the Present is an interval of time equal to 0 (just zero), Present can't exist, nor, consequently, Past and Future...
However, we seem to agree that time came to existence at the Big-Bang and will cease to "exist" at the big-crunch (if it happens). So we must accept that time exists, and that it flows in one direction only: from past to future. However, Hawkins says that if the Universe is to go towards a big crunch, at the maximum expansion, time would reverse its flow!
Seems like a paradox. Maybe "all" "times" exist... at the same time?
Quantum leap theory is that all instants in time are present... at the same time... Human concept? Your ideas?

I'm Japanese and a new flight attendant for a Japanese airline company and my boss told me that I should talk in English to non-Asian customers.

Is this just good service or one of racism? There are many Asian customers who aren't Japanese. What about them? and What about Europeans or Africans who speak Japanese by their practice?

I think I should talk in Japanese to any cutomers first and if they ask me to speak English, then I should start talking in English.

What do you think?

Is God one or is He three? I personally believe He is one. God is our Father. He sent His Son via His Holy Spirit. Does that make a trio? No. God was IN Christ but that doesn't make Him God. God is in me too and I am not God. God is a Spirit and not flesh but He does come in to us and make His dwelling there via His Spirit. So what do you think about this age old question?

In Christ, George...

We are enrolling our (almost) 3 year-old son in a very traditional Montessori preschool for the upcoming fall. We feel very confident that this will be the right environment for him. Our only concern is that we've heard that the Montessori method stifles/discourages imaginative and/or fantasy play. Our son has a very vivid imagination, which we feel is one of his strengths. Montessori experts out there, how would you respond to this criticism? Is it just another misconception about the Montessori method, or is there some validity to it?

I have gotten a decent amount of negative and downright rude responses from atheists on here. While I realize this does not include all of you, and probably not even the majority, it still has peaked my curiosity enough to ask this question. When a new person you meet tells you they are a Christian, but you know nothing else about them, what opinion do you form? It has been my experience from asking questions that some (I said SOME, not ALL, don't get your panties in a wad) atheists tend to automatically assume Christians are weak and need some belief to cling to, or that Christians aren't as intelligent as those who don't believe. Furthermore, let's explore the possibility of Christians, rather than being inferior or less intelligent, actually having a particularly keen ability to tune in to all things spiritual, and that it actually requires superior strength to admit that there is an incomprehensibly huge mass of things out there that science has not been able to explain.

The cashier of a Indian gorcey store in Waltham gave me a Two Dollars Bill.

I've been moved from Canada for 8 years now and this is the first time I see a Two Dollars Bill.

Is it counterfeit money?

I'll start. :-)

One of the core principles of heathenry is "frith," which many heathens incorrectly translate as "peace." But the meaning is more akin to "protection" . . . the solidarity and loyalty and mutual defense of the family, kinclan, Aett, or vinfengi (oath bound mutual aid association). But FAMILY comes first, in heathenry, and mine is . . . well, aside from mostly being fundies and draugrtru, they're dysfunctional in a lot of *other* ways too.

But being a "good heathen" means standing by them, and I do. It's just not always easy, lol.

How about the rest of you? What is the most difficult aspect of your personal traditions for you to live up to and do well?
